Vampyr

Indi was born into the world in the same manner as you or I were. The history of her family is largely unknown as she was born 5 thousand years ago. Her mother was a powerful mage named Atma. Little is known about her early life, and she died at the moment Indi took her first breath. Her father, Kascant was also a powerful mage. It was he who raised her. Yet nothing is written of him save that it was he who trained her in the magiks of the land.

As Indi grew, her powers over the magik increased with her. She used her magik to further the good of the land. When the weak lay helpless she would give them strength. When the defenseless were attacked she shielded them with magiks unknown to the rest of the world.

As she entered her 25th year. She was known through out her land and beyond. Her reputation for goodness attracted many people to her. She was surrounded by love and adoration. Among those attracted to her was a solitary creature named Vedas. The history of Vedas is even more hidden than that of Indi. Whether this was intentional is unknown. What is known is that Vedas was a solitary pained creature who had long ago left anything even resembled humanity. He was a vampire who had long known the pain of the outcast. He was unloved and that lack of love made him hard and cruel. He had an intense hatred of anything good. His main purpose in life was to spread his pain to everything he touched. At the time Indi was helping all she met he was tired and old and had decided to throw himself into the fire and end his wretched life. But before doing so he wanted to harm the world as he felt it had harmed him; to take from it the one thing it loved and cherished.

He undertook the guise of an old man bent and crippled. He went to Indi knowing she would take all pains to help him ease his suffering at which time he would take her from the world who loved her. Before she had time to react he fell upon her driving his sharp fangs into her draining her of her pure blood. As she began to slip into death he gazed upon her and for the first time in a millennia he felt something. . .something unknown to him. He quickly tried to restore her by giving unto her his powerful vampire blood. As her mortal body died in his arms her preternatural form rose and gazed into his soul. . . .

*an interlude to the more distant past*

Now to entirely understand what this meant you must understand what has gone on before. Vampires have existed throughout time. There are many legends as to how they first began, but all are very contradictory and none can be taken as truth. All vampires are killers. This is a simple truth and nothing can be said against it. Even the most gentle vampire must kill to exist. It is the need for blood which drives them and makes them strong. Whatever a person was before can have no bearing on this fact. Some vampires kill wantonly, others chose to kill only the evil doer. But even the latter can never be good because the bloodlust is constant and the temptation to kill the innocent it always with them. This has driven many young vampires insane as the find themselves killing all they meet. This is not to say that a vampire cannot have feelings and compassion. A vampire probably feels pain more deeply than any other creature. It must, however, be understood that no vampire can be of good alignment, no matter how good they may appear. The closest a vampire can come to goodness is neutrality and this comes after many years of discipline.

Because of the nature of the vampire. They have been feared and hated by civilization. They were driven away from the cities and towns. Many never survived the first war, and the ones that were left were hesitant to create more because of the persecution. At this time, it was also dangerous for vampires to travel together. It was much easier to remain hidden if alone. This may explain why Vedas was so lonely and broken. Perhaps it was the case he had walked alone for too long. . .

*Indi the vampire*

As Indi saw the world for the first time with her preternatural eyes. She became very frightened. She looked at Vedas and asked him, "what have you done to me?" He replied, "I have made you strong and have given you the closest thing to immortality you shall ever find". Indi wept. Her blood tears ran thick down her face. At this point it is said that Vedas threw himself into the fire and was heard of again no more.

Indi spent the next 5 thousand years in solitary. It is said she strove to only harm the evil doer, but there were times when she was young that she also killed the innocent. This caused her great pain when the lust was satiated, thus she removed herself from all she loved and walked alone. She visited many lands but never felt accepted, never felt at peace with herself. A long time later she traveled to the Realms of Aurealis, where she decided to try to re-integrate into society. Early on in her time there. She met a man Titan. It was he who introduced her to the lands. He accepted her and welcomed her to his clan, scylla. She loved this clan and loved all of those in it. But, even at her age she still craved the blood and decided it was dangerous to be so close to others unlike her. So with much sorrow she left her clan and began to walk alone once more. During her wanderings she met another man. . .Conor. For the first time since she became a vampire she once again felt love. She shared with him a gift she had never shared. She made him as she was. They then walked together. It was after their marriage that she decided it was time to create a new clan. She wanted to no longer to walk alone and no longer wanted others to walk alone. She began to create other like her and thus created the clan *Vampyr*.
