Linvil tells Melyda, "(knock knock)" A large pool This large pool of water is fed by the waterfall to the south, and the waters that fill it are as clear as any mountain stream. The banks are lined with thick brush and trees, while to the north, the pool empties out into a wide, gently lolling river. The air about you is very clear, and the sounds of forest life can be heard over the roar of the waterfall. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- A female half-elven druid named Melyda is standing here. A freshwater trout swims by, intent on something besides you. A freshwater trout swims by, intent on something besides you. A freshwater trout swims by, intent on something besides you. A freshwater trout swims by, intent on something besides you. Melyda opens the door. Melyda slips quietly off to the east through the door. A Gathering Nook The heart of the house is simple and quiet, the faint sound of the waterwheel wafting through now and then. A wooden table is in the middle, surrounded by a set of chairs. The stove in the corner glows with heat, and the teapot resting on it bubbles and whistles. Dried bouquets of bright flowers are hung up along the walls, their soft smell mixing with the delicious odor coming from within the stove. In one corner the stairs comes from below and continues on up -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- A female half-elven druid named Melyda is standing here. Linvil asks in elven, "Hullo. Is Tarly home?" Melyda smiles. Melyda says in elven, "Hello my boy. No, he isn't...he ran off at first light, hunting or some such business" Linvil looks around. Melyda chuckles. Linvil asks in elven, "Aw, darn. Did he like the picture?" [ Ed. note: The drawing of a polar gumffbeast, last issue! ] Melyda smiles. Melyda says in elven, "Very much so...follow me" Melyda slips quietly off to the north. Tarlyn's room A small oak bed gives this room a slightly rustic feel, covered only with a couple simple blankets. A window allows sunlight to pour in, spreading all throughout the room. A large oak desk is covered with books and scrolls, and a bookcase next to it is cluttered with as much as it can hold. A few training weapons are leaning against the wall in the corner, partially hidden by the cloak that has been idly tossed in their direction. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- A female half-elven druid named Melyda is standing here. Melyda motions to the wall over his desk, where the picture is stuck to the wall. Linvil smiles. Melyda says in elven, "I think you inspired his morning hunting" Melyda grins. Linvil peers at the spines of Tarlyn's books a moment, then looks abashed at his nosiness. Melyda chuckles slightly at the youngster's curiousness. Melyda asks in elven, "Is there something you wanted Tarlyn for this morning?" Linvil says in elven, "Oh, I just wanted to show him this rock I found." Linvil stop using a cluster of ve'ret crystals. Linvil gives a cluster of ve'ret crystals to Melyda. Melyda raises an eyebrow. Melyda says in elven, "How interesting" Melyda says in elven, "I've never seen one like it." Melyda asks in elven, "Where did you find it?" Melyda gives you a cluster of ve'ret crystals. Linvil says in elven, "Um..." Linvil says evasively, "Just around..." Melyda chuckles. Melyda says in elven, "so secretive" Melyda nudges Linvil with a grin. Linvil flits his wings. This is a cluster of ve'ret crystals. These crystals, still not completely understood, are extremely rare due to the delicate nature and the necessity to have the proper ratio of mineral water combined with the right combination of stone and dirt, as well as a constant supply of magical energy. Shaped similar to other crystals, these crystals can be identified by their green color and extremely cool touch. Melyda asks in elven, "why is that?" Linvil thinks . o O ( Because you'd tell mom. ) Linvil says in elven, "It's in a secret place." Linvil rubs at the stone with his sleeve. Melyda glances at the crystal in Linvil's hand curiously. Melyda says in elven, "well, far be it for me to spoil a secret.....I just have never seen one like that" Linvil says in elven, "Well, okay... they were growing underwater west of Mesraht." Linvil sniffs the air. "Something smells nice." Melyda raises an eyebrow. Melyda asks in elven, "underwater?" Melyda nods. Melyda smiles. Melyda asks in elven, "what do you mean, underwater?" Linvil says in elven, "Well, uh, I kinda had to dive for it." Melyda raises an eyebrow. Linvil fidgets. Melyda says in elven, "Linvil..." Linvil asks in elven, "Yes'm?" Melyda looks you over, then sighs and shakes her head. Melyda says in elven, "just be careful" Linvil nods and exclaims in elven, "I know I shouldn't go swimming alone, but it's a really great rock!" Melyda says in elven, "aye, it is, but if something had happened, no rock in the realms would be worth it" Linvil nods. Linvil asks in elven, "Is it okay if Tarly goes with me next time?" Melyda bites her lip. Linvil looks up at you hopefully. Melyda asks in elven, "maybe....lets see what it seems like then, OK?" Linvil exclaims in elven, "Okay!" Linvil flits his wings cheerfully, as if Melyda has already said yes. Linvil grabs a tiny silver flute. Linvil tries to play a little hornpipe, but instead plays a couple metallic notes interrupted by whistles and screeches. He doesn't seem to know to hold the flute under his lips instead of blowing directly into it. Melyda chuckles softly and reaches out, turning the flute around. Melyda says in elven, "try like this" Linvil looks puzzled. "But how do I..?" Linvil tries curling his lips to direct the air into the hole. Melyda says in elven, "purse your lips and blow gently, like this.." Melyda demonstrates. Linvil tries following your example, and manages to get it right on the second try. Linvil says in elven, "Ohhh! I wondered why my flute didn't work." Melyda chuckles. Melyda says in elven, "now it does" Melyda smiles. Melyda says in elven, "come" Melyda smiles. Linvil says in elven, "Thanks!" Melyda slips quietly off to the south. A Gathering Nook The heart of the house is simple and quiet, the faint sound of the waterwheel wafting through now and then. Linvil sniffs the air again. Melyda moves to her pack and rummages through it, pulling her flute out. Melyda grins knowingly. Melyda says in elven, "give it a moment or two, and there will be something sweet for you" Linvil beams. Linvil stops floating and sit down. Linvil starts to float. Melyda says in elven, "here, hold your flute like this...each hand on it..." Melyda holds up her own to show Linvil. Linvil watches intently. Melyda says in elven, "blow gently...if you try too hard, it'll squeak more" Melyda grins. Linvil holds his flute carefully, following your instructions. Melyda begins to sing Spirit Eyes. Melyda stops singing Spirit Eyes. [Linvil tries to 'play' it] Linvil raises his clear voice (?) to the sky. Melyda blows a simple tune. Melyda asks in elven, "you see?" Linvil tries to follow Melyda's fingers. Melyda smiles. Melyda plays it again, slower, so Linvil can watch the fingerings. Linvil blows a couple notes, holding each rather long while he figures out how to place his fingers for the next one. Melyda reaches out and corrects Linvil's fingering once, smiling as he slowly manages to play the tune. Linvil grins. Linvil exclaims in elven, "Hey, I did it! Won't mom be surprised!" Linvil plays it again, still not getting the timing right, but recognizably playing the melody. Melyda smiles and makes a show of applauding Melyda says in elven, "very good, Linvil" Melyda smiles. Linvil says to Melyda in elven, "Aw, it's just cuz thou'rt a good teacher." Melyda chuckles. Melyda says in elven, "that was a song my father taught me when I was about your age" Linvil practices a little more. . o O ( The Flying Flautist flits down the streets of Mesraht, disease-ridden rats reeling and capering across the cobblestones behind him... ) Melyda smiles. Melyda says in elven, "you're getting the hang of it" Linvil beams. Melyda eats a mint leaf. Melyda says in elven, "and since you did such a good job..." Melyda grins as she stands and moves to the stove. Grabbing a towel, she pulls out a tray of honeyed buns. Linvil goes ooOOooOOooOOoo. Linvil is already hovering above the ground. Linvil stops floating and sits down. Melyda asks in elven, "can you eat a whole one?" Linvil looks keen to try. Melyda chuckles and places one before him. Linvil picks up the large bun and starts devouring it, getting honey all over his face. Melyda wraps up another one and puts it next to Linvil's flute for later. Melyda chuckles and also puts a clean towel next to him. Melyda chuckles as honey is smeared over Linvil's face. Melyda smiles. Linvil goes mmMMmmMMmmMMmm. Linvil wipes off his face. "Thankee!" Melyda giggles. Melyda says in elven, "you are welcome, my boy" Melyda hugs you. Melyda smiles.
