| Description: | Zha'un are the elder race of which the Ale'un are a sub-set. The Zha'un believe that it is their destiny to rule all above all others, and keenly feel the "betrayal" of the Ale'un in abandoning them ages ago to live upon the surface of Aurealis. Likewise, they feel an equally intense loathing of the surface races the Ale'un have befriended, seeing them as corrupting influences. They claim alliances with no race, considering all to be inferior to themselves, but see certain species as at least deserving to be treated as talented and worthwhile inferiors, if not equals. The Zha'un are the creators of the magical metal known as Adamantium, and only they are currently in possession of the spells necessary, a jealously guarded secret to be sure. |
| Attitudes on: |
Humans: (Yuannor) |
"One of the younger races, these creatures, with their varying skin tones, hair colors, and eye colors, are obviously incapable of any sense of consistency in their lives. As such, they are little more than walking fleshy bags of chaos, and as such should be avoided by anyone with a modicum of intelligence, unless one needs a not-so-clever diversion." |
Elves: (Ale'un) |
"Betrayers of old, they abandoned our ways and fled to the light of the surface. They cannot be trusted. Ever. They have already proven themselves incapable of loyalty." |
Dwarves: (Eowujar) |
"Although their knowledge of metals is notable, their peculiar notions of loyalty to those substances they mine make their sanity suspect. And they're always so dirty... have they no sense of personal pride?" |
Ogres: (Gwirath) |
"Large, dumb, easily manipulated. They're good ballistae-fodder, if you can figure out how to explain what you want them to do in a way they'll comprehend." |
Drakyn: (L'zyarn) |
"Their arrogance speaks well of them, although it is misplaced. At least they are proud of their accomplishments, and show a drive to grow and prosper. Their claims to be of ancient draconic descent, however, show them to be delusional." |
Minotaurs: (Makkar) |
"Overstuffed bulls on their hind legs, with just as much sense as their four-legged counterparts. While they fight with just as much ferocity, they unfortunately lack their common sense." |
Nixies: (N'allarri) |
"Wretched sea creatures who deserve to be used as bait for fishing rather than allowed to travel the world free. They were pathetic as slaves, they are doubly so as creatures the rest of the light-loving races seem to view as more important than they are. Only the L'Zyarn, who view them as a delicacy, can be forgiven." |
Pixies: (P'allarri) |
"The L'Zyarn prize these insects as delicacies. Food is one of only two uses these creatures have, and the other can best be described as 'waste management'. That these creatures can fly only increases their sport when hunted." |
Prrmyr: (Prrmyr) |
"This is what comes of letting younger races perform magical experiments: they lack the wisdom and experience to realize that failed experiments must be destroyed, not released and allowed to spread, reproduce, and infect the world. These cosmic mistakes should be exterminated, to the benefit of all." |
Half-Elves: (S'Ale'un) |
"The fact that their blood is tainted with falsehood and betrayal should not be held against these half-breed creatures, although neither half has much to their credit. They are outcast by all, and thus have quiet pride in themselves, which we find admirable, if anything that comes from the betrayer race can be so viewed." |
Half-Orcs: (S'Uloitha) |
"That any creature could find an Uloithan attractive, even another Uloithan, is beyond comprehension. Said half-breeds are little more than custodians for the regions of the world that no others will inhabit. They are foul, treacherous creatures with no other reason to exist other than as the butt of the jokes of the more evolved races." |
Trokhons: (Trokhons) |
"It is fortunate that these creatures take more after their wolfen progenitors rather than others that come to mind. Their innate sense of honor makes them worthwhile to have as allies, and easy to dispose of when their usefulness has ended." |
Orcs: (Uloitha) |
"Fierce warriors, if not exceptionally bright. Their skill with torture is worthy of respect, if only it was backed by something akin to imagination and creativity. Their methods are worthwhile, but the uses to which they put them show no finesse whatsoever." |
Halflings: (Vandar) |
"Annoying little creatures who insist on being chipper and happy constantly. Anyone that chronically cheerful is either mentally imbalanced or a pathological liar. And, while either can be used in the proper circumstances, they are just so... annoying!" |
Cernunian: (Cernunian) |
"Odd magical mutations from the surface. They do not fare well in the Underdark, which is just as well. We have more than enough pathetic surface creatures invading our realms as it is. They do seem rather intelligent, however. Were they able to adjust to life underground, they would make valuable slaves." |
Gnomes: (Feinggar) |
"The make adequate slaves, and their talents are useful if you cut out their tongues, but they have a propensity for making things that will only serve their purposes, so they must be watched. Closely." |
