| Description: | Nixies are derived from pixie stock, and thus are extremely similar in form, but for a few distinctions. First, they have no wings. Instead, from their backs form finlike extrusions. These fins extend no more than an inch out from the body, and number from none to half a dozen, though three is the most common. The fins are mostly filled with fatty deposits, but nixies do have minimal muscle control over them. Finlike appendages also sprout from a nixie's outer ankle and wrist, and have been known to appear elsewhere on a rare nixie. Their skin tends towards a pale hue, as they spend most of their time in the water. This skin is thicker than that of pixies, to protect better against the elements. Nowhere is it scaled. Their skin also quite commonly takes on a very slight and very pale blue or green hue, which tends to run in families. On either side of a nixie's neck can be found gills, which allow the nixie to operate with complete independance for an unlimited amount of time in water. Otherwise, nixies are identical in overall size, form, and colouring as their pixie cousins. |
| Attitudes on: |
Humans: (Yuannor) |
"The Yuannor are a thoughtless race most of the time, but at least they aren't intentionally cruel like some of the other races. I wish they'd learn to be a little more careful about what they put in our water." |
Elves: (Ale'un) |
"The Ale'un are a beautiful and wise race. They help protect our forests and our waterways. They aren't always the most fun to be around, they tend to be serious, but they are so beautiful and they take such good care of our homelands, that it's easy to forgive them for not having more fun." |
Dwarves: (Eowujar) |
"The Eowujar sometimes mess up our waters with their mining practices. They don't seem to care much about anything except money...unless you get them drinking that is; then they can be quite a lot of fun." |
Ogres: (Gwirath) |
"The Gwirath aren't very smart, are they? Big, clumsy and easy marks for other races to use as weapons or soldiers. They're generally too slow to catch us, so we don't worry about them too much." |
Drakyn: (L'zyarn) |
"I don't understand how a race that looks so beautiful and has the ability to fly can be so sour all the time. They are NO fun whatsoever, except perhaps as targets for our pranks." |
Minotaurs: (Makkar) |
"Hateful creatures. I wonder what it is that makes them so angry? I've never met one yet who wasn't looking for a fight. If you're quick enough and smart enough, you can often make them fight each other. Anyone with such a bad temper isn't likely to be all that smart." |
Pixies: (P'allarri) |
"Aren't they fabulous?! We love our flying cousins. Smart, fun, full of energy and life. No place beats Allarria for the sheer joy and contentment of our races." |
Prrmyr: (Prrymr) |
"The cat-folk are quite beautiful and seem almost as interested in protecting our home forests and waterways as the Ale'un. They are extraordinary magic users and quite a bit more fun than many of the other races we encounter." |
Half-Elves: (S'Ale'un) |
"Like most of the halfling species, you meet some who are friendly and some who are not. Many have a bit of a negative attitude due to the fact that neither Yuannor nor the Ale'un accept them as equals, but some of them are downright friendly." |
Half-Orcs: (S'Uloitha) |
"I often feel sorry for this half-breed. They are so unattractive and so hated by most of the other races. Of course, my pity only draws anger, so I mostly just try and avoid them." |
Trokhon: (Trokhon) |
"I don't know much about this species yet. They seem quiet and reserved, which doesn't bode well for them being able to have any sense of fun. I had hoped they would be more like the pet dogs that the Yuannor have, but I'm told they're more like the wolves in the forests. Wolves aren't known for being good as pets or playthings." |
Orcs: (Uloitha) |
"Perhaps when you're unattractive all you CAN do is fight. That's the only sense I can make of the Uloitha. Worse than their attitude, is their smell. When one of them walks through one of our streams, the stench spreads through the water like a disease and we're forced to find deeper waters. How can anyone not smell these 'warriors' coming?" |
Halflings: (Vandar) |
"Oh I love the Vandar! They love to play music and laugh and sing. They're almost as good at pranks as those of Allarri blood. It almost makes one think that, the smaller you are, the better your sense of humor. That certainly would explain the L'zyarn." |
Zhaun: (Zha'un) |
"There is nothing good that can be said about the Zhaun. Dark creatures with dark hearts and darker souls. They trust no one and they seem to love no one. One almost wonders what it is they live for, except to make others miserable." |
Cernunian: (Cernunian) |
"Such a strange race. The first time I saw one walk near my pond, I was sure someone was playing a joke on me. I've never heard one talk, but I've seen a few of them walking from place to place. I wonder what they want." |
Gnomes: (Feinggar) |
"These bald creatures seem to have on concept of fun, or at least no concept of what we consider fun. With them it's all work and repairing and fixing and making... don't they ever laugh?" |
