Description:Bull-headed is both a means to describe the race and to describe their attitude towards the other races. The Makkar give the Zha'un a run for their nerens in the attitude arena. They feel that they, with their physical superiority, they are the pinnacle of physical perfection and find all other species wanting. They particularly dislike the Gwirath (they're actually stronger) and the Vandar (they're too flip about Makkarian superiority).
Attitudes on:
Humans:
(Yuannor)
"Soft round-heads have no horns, and they can be weak, but they can show strength at the most surprising times. But they never show respect, not openly. Oh, we see the fear in their eyes when they look at us, so we don't slay them openly, but they're a worthless and weak species overall."
Elves:
(Ale'un)
"Arrogant sticks, they deserve to be spitted and roasted, except it would take a dozen of them to make a decent meal, and they probably taste like trees, since they love them so much. No wonder the females are always so irritable. The males probably have horns like twigs. They need to try a bull's horn!"
Dwarves:
(Eowujar)
"For tiny things, they are hard and fierce, these rockers. They make excellent weapons, are strong, and are as hard s the rocks they no doubt mate with to make more of their kind. They make excellent workers, as long as they're watched closely. They are too prone to rebellion to be kept as houseservants however."
Ogres:
(Gwirath)
"Insolent wretches! Too stupid to know that we are the strongest! They lord their height over us, as if that makes any difference. We are the strongest, and if it takes a world of dead hair-oaks to prove it, so be it!"
Drakyn:
(L'zyarn)
"Unlike the damned flitters, Reptors are at least worth speaking to. They are proud, arrogant, and fight well. That makes them worthy adversaries, and a good foe is always to be respected."
Nixies:
(N'allarri)
"Filthy, slimy little fishes, they are too small to eat, and not worth the energy to throw back, so we mostly just ignore them, as long as they're not near our homes. They steal, you know."
Pixies:
(P'allarri)
"Stupid butterflies with arms and legs. They're fun to swat at with your axe, but they like to fly off with whatever their weak little appendages can actually lift, so we usually just kill 'em if we see them flying around our homes, families, lands..."
Prrmyr:
(Prrymr)
"Cats are evil! Cats that walk and talk are doubly evil!! They are insolent, disrespectful, arrogant, and have the gall to try to be cute about it. If we see one, and they refuse to show us the respect we're due, we swing. If they don't run, they die."
Half-Elves:
(S'Ale'un)
"Who would have thought that the joining of these two weak and generally worthless species could have created a hybrid that not only fights reasonably well, but understands the necessity of accepting ones betters with grace? We find them worthy of some of our more distasteful work, as they are diligent and proud."
Half-Orcs:
(S'Uloitha)
"Toothers. Bah! Were it not a waste of our time and energy, we would slaugter every last one of them as a courtesy to the rest of our brethren. Combining the worst of two pathetic races can only make a creature worthy of pity and despite, and they are."
Trokhon:
(Trokhon)
"For canines, they are tolerable. They seem to have the same bloodthirstiness of their four-legged progenitors, but it has been tempered slightly by an awareness of their place in the world. They are below us, and seem to have no qualms about it."
Orcs:
(Uloitha)
"Haughty little fake warriors! They think that because they have some idea about how to wage war, they are the worlds best at it. Such arrogance in a race that weak and narrow-minded would be laughable, if they weren't so obnoxious and disrespectful."
Halflings:
(Vandar)
"Disrespectful little stumpers! They run around our legs, they point at the grandeur of our horns and laugh, they call us names they think we don't understand, but we do. They don't laugh so much when they're dangling, gutted, from a spear-tip however."
Zhaun:
(Zha'un)
"Worthy foes, these darkers. They respect our strength, and for that we grant them the possibility of wisdom, but they are also deceitful and arrogant in their dealings with those they think inferior, so we treat them as they treat us. Acceptable."
Cernunian:
(Cernunian)
"These odd creatures are almost beyond understanding, but they look upon us with fear, respect, and a keen interest, which shows they possess marvelous judgement, if nothing else."
Gnomes:
(Feinggar)
"They mock us, pointing to our horns and making inappropriate suggestions. They seem incapable of understanding the grandeur of the horn, and are too much the fool to be bothered with."
