Description:The vandar are a diminutive bipedal species much prone to comfort and humor. They do not hold that there is anything that cannot be laughed at, and find merriment to be the best medicine for any ailment, and find that pranks are a fabulous way to accomplish that. They find the pretention of the L'Zyarn annoying, and delight in pranking them mercilessly. Vandar also have a predilection for slight of hand, and thus make accomplished thieves.
Attitudes on:
Humans:
(Yuannor)
"Ye know, humans may be the children of the races, but they are for the most part good people. What we like most about them is their variety. You could get, on one hand, a human even more jovial and care-free than us! On the other hand, you could get a human with a soul blacker than sin. But they listen well, they treat us well and we get along with them right as rain."
Elves:
(Ale'un)
"Stuffy. That is all they are. Sure, they build beautiful cities in the forests that could bring a tear to your eye. And the wine? Very, very good. But, they don’t take well to others who are not their blood. We will say this: if you ever do gain the friendship of an elf, you have a friend who will look after your descendants long after we’ve gone down into the Great Burrow."
Dwarves:
(Eowujar)
"What did we say about elves? Stuffy? Multiply that a thousand times for the dwarves. Sometimes we think their hearts are as hard as stone they love to work with. And work, and furrow their brows; that’s all they do sometimes. Great builders, but they need to work with wood a little bit more. They sure do know their gemstones, just don’t hand them any pearls."
Ogres:
(Gwirath)
"No, no. Ogres are the true mindless beasts. They are about as sharp as a burlap sack filled with cold oatmeal. Oh they are very strong but that’s about all they are good for. There’s only two things they can do quite well: smash things and stand there with their mouths agape drooling."
Drakyn:
(L'zyarn)
"And we finally come to the lizards. Cold-blooded, arrogant, manipulative, haughty. Those are their good qualities. They only deal with others when it serves their purpose to do so and they can rake in as much as possible in return. We’ve dealt with L’zyarns many times and we can label them a lost cause."
Minotaurs:
(Makkar)
"Ye can mark this down under pointless: debating with a makkarian. They are too stubborn for their own good and they only see themselves as right. The best thing one can do for laughs is outwit one of them (it isn’t too hard) and then cut their coinpouch while they’re distracted. Watching them erupt into a twister of fury is a source of unbridled laughter!"
Nixies:
(N'allarri)
"Mercurial. That’s the word we were thinking of. Now they may not be so quick on good solid land. But, once they are in the water, they are as quick as lightning! Quick witted they in the head too. They are just like their brothers and sisters in the pixies. And for that, they are our friends."
Pixies:
(P'allarri)
"And ye thought we were frivolous? Just look at the pixies! Now they know how to enjoy life and they normally live for many hundreds of years. Don’t ever let their tiny size fool you. They are quick, even quicker than us. Lots of people mock us for our size. Well, they’re smaller than us, but you’ll never see us insult them, nosiree."
Prrmyr:
(Prrymr)
"Heh, you must think us dull-witted enough to make comments about cats and curiousity. But they are, there is no denying it. And they are good at getting to what they are interested in. They are as silent as the owls when they start on their prey. And the rare times they are actually seen, well, they know how to beat a hasty retreat. They do listen and listen quite well. We share our secrets without misgivings and respect them greatly."
Half-Elves:
(S'Ale'un)
"Aye, they see themselves as outcasts but we see them as having the best of both worlds. Good souls they are with powerful elvish blood running through their veins. They have all the chances in the Realms to make the best with their lives because of their long lives and their closeness to the peaceful woods. We love them as their human parents do. I just wish the elves would show responsibility towards their children."
Half-Orcs:
(S'Uloitha)
"Not pretty to look at that’s for certain. But you can’t truly hate the children of monsters. They didn’t choose to be born as what they are. We look out for them when we can. We help them collect wood for their fire and hunt for food. Now some of them are quite violent, there’s no denying it. But the ones who have a little more human than orc, we make certain their bellies are full, the ale isn’t too weak, and the fireplace stays warm."
Trokhon:
(Trokhon)
"They’re stuck so deep into their traditions and their structured life that we think they’ve lost all ability to enjoy themselves. Far too serious to be taken seriously, if that is even possible. Oh they make good fighters, but they swell too much with pride. No wonder the prrmyrians come to us for "help" with them."
Orcs:
(Uloitha)
"All they are concerned about is fighting and destroying and pillaging. Dull-witted they are and they have no appreciation for art unless its covered in either their or someone else’s blood. But, we can’t talk about others unless we say something nice. They are great survivalists. But, their survival usually is at someone else’s expense."
Zhaun:
(Zha'un)
"Was that a cold wind we felt? Oh no, it was just the name of that dark race. They stay deep underground and that’s where we like them stay. Too structured, too power-hungry, too haughty of attitudes. If that’s what they enjoy doing, that’s fine with us. They can stay thousands of feet underground, we’ll just settle for about ten feet under for our burrows."
Cernunian:
(Cernunian)
"Well, they are certainly new. And they have gotten off on the right foot. Or root in their case. They certainly enjoy watching and studying. They seem curious and that it fine with us. They're quiet however... That is a shame. Hopefully they’re grow themselves a mouth or two so we can find out what they are really like."
Gnomes:
(Feinggar)
"While they can be fun, and they are kind to us, they are so very strange and they do not seem to understand that to laugh is to live, and without laughter, there is no freedom."
