Description:The largest of the races, the L'Zyarn are scaled, winged bipedal reptiles. They claim to be descendent of ancient dragons, but the scholars of the realms find no evidence to suggest that this. They are one of the more advanced tribal species. At one time in the past, they discovered the power of magics long forgotten, and created a floating city in which they reside. Although they have long since lost the power, the city remains afloat... for now.
Attitudes on:
Humans:
(Yuannor)
"No trust can be given to weak, soft, mewling ground-based races. To be considered for trust by the Legions of the Sky, the true Descendents of the Great Wyrm, one must have honor, one must have great strength, and one must take naturally to the sky. These mammals have none of these attributes, and as such are dealt with only from a position of reserve and suspicion, and only as inferiors."
Elves:
(Ale'un)
"These creatures fill the wooded areas of the surface, and have mastered the art of magic and archery, two methods by which the grounders may span the distance and attack us from their clearly inferior position. That they consider themselves important due to their self-imposed position as the defenders of the ground labels them both dangerous and the greatest fools in the realms. What worth has ground when air is required for ground to prosper? Except as a main dish at state dinners of the Legion, of course."
Dwarves:
(Eowujar)
"These creatures personify all that is the ground. They are not all that impressive to look at, but are virtually unmovable and as hard in the skull as rock. Their size obviously slights them, but they have attempted to make the best of a pitiful situation. They can be communicated with, but not as an equal."
Ogres:
(Gwirath)
"While not anywhere near as intelligent, their strength is to be respected, and they do have a rudimentary form of honor in their tribal societies. They make excellent guards and can be counted on, provided you can get instructions through to them."
Minotaurs:
(Makkar)
"Honorable and aggressive, they almost deserve to be considered our equal, but alas, the Wyrmfather saw fit to keep them grounded, thus indicating their ultimate inferiority. Still, of all the grounded races, they are the ones we find the most promising."
Nixies:
(N'allarri)
"They have intelligence? Nonsense. They are nothing but fish with the ability to crawl on shore and mew at their betters. They are prey, and as such are treated as prey: They are listened to until they can be tracked, trapped, killed and devoured. What other use could this 'race' possibly have?"
Pixies:
(P'allarri)
"Totally undeserving of being winged, for they carry none of the other grandeurs that should be inherent in any non-grounded races. They are inconsistant, weak, flitty, and altogether undependable. The only function they can possibly serve is as sport for our hunters, and as a delicacy for the more adventerous of our kind."
Prrmyr:
(Prrymr)
"These creatures seem to have some distorted sense of honor, but when coupled with their almost incessant capriciousness, it is not anything that can be counted on. Couple that with their obvious lack of discipline, as they seem so very easily distracted, they are to be suffered, when convenient for the Legions, but only just, and only when absolutely necessary."
Half-Elves:
(S'Ale'un)
"These pitiful half-breeds are shunned by both of their originating species, and as well they should be. Poor bastard groundlings, it might have been kinder to kill them at birth, as we do with any of our young born wingless. Perhaps they should be pitied, but it is a certainty that they should never be trusted."
Half-Orcs:
(S'Uloitha)
"These creatures, while tainted by the soft human yuannorian blood, still retain enough sense to cling to their Uloithan ferocity. It must pain them so to be the product of two grounded species, one so soft as to be pitiable, but they continue to try. It is a shame they cannot see that their quest for our greatness is futile."
Trokhon:
(Trokhon)
"Of all the races, save ourselves of course, these are by far the most honorable. But they have embodied all that is weak in honor, with their tribal caste system and their willingness to pledge to the soft ones. This reduces them to a race that can be dealt with should the situation call for such, but never as equals."
Orcs:
(Uloitha)
"Their size marks them as inferior, but one must grudgingly admire both the strength and tenacity of their species. Were they able to take to the skies, perhaps we would offer then an alliance. As it is, they are tolerated, but only because of their ferocity."
Halflings:
(Vandar)
"At first, these pitiful creatures were taken to be Eowujaran young, but it became quickly apparent that they had none of the requisite attributes of that species. These 'beings' are always turning up the corners of their maws, and seem to think that their primitive version of what passes for humor is meant to be endearing. They also make a tremendous amount of noise for a semi-intelligent race, and as such are best trapped and killed quickly. They should also be consumed in short order, as they do not keep well."
Zhaun:
(Zha'un)
"Dishonorable creatures, they have taken to living in the ground as we have taken to the air. They are all that we are not, and yet they have had their uses in the past, so are worthy of some limited employment, as long as one never turns ones back on them. They appear to be chaos incarnate, and in that they can never be trusted without care."
Cernunian:
(Cernunian)
"Merely another groundling race, although given that these are not warm-blooded makes them a curiosity. They are astute, for those more inhibited by a need for ground than any of the other races, but their perceptions tend to be obscure and skewed in a way that renders their experiences unusable by any but themselves."
Gnomes:
(Feinggar)
"Mumbles are the most amusing of the little races. They run about with their beards tied behind their shining, sweaty little bald heads and think themselves clever because they can fix things."
