The Realms of Aurealis
Once, this world was a battleground for Gods, young and old, good and evil, lawful and chaotic. But that was then, this is now. There are no more Gods. In their place have come mystic energies, as primal as the land itself, and almost sentient, but not. They respond to praise and scorn, and reward those who follow their paths with powers unavailable to others. However, should one so chosen displease the energies, they will find themselves pained and perhaps killed. Although no intelligence guides these energies, they do react when pushed and abused, just as they react when loved and cherished.
Energies of Aurealis
There are four basic faiths in the Realms. Each is described below in basic detail. More information will become available as it is learned by those who follow them.
| Good: |
Followers of this energy value the benefit of society as a whole above personal gain. However this good is brought about, be it through lawful or chaotic means, is acceptable, so long as it results in a greater good for more people. |
| Evil: |
Followers of this energy embrace selfishness and the desire for power. The more personal gain an individual can bring, the more power they may accrue. The means are not important, merely the furtherance of self over, and in some cases in spite of, all others. |
| Law: |
Followers of this energy believe in structure and order. Regardless of whether the result is for good or ill is irrelevent. All must be done according to plan to be acceptable. |
| Chaos: |
Followers of this energy believe in randomness and freedom above all else, regardless of the effects during or at the end of an exercise. Whim, instinct, and gut feeling rule this faith. |
