The Story of Hyde |
 |
In the old world of Aurealis Prime, there was a mysterious man known as Hyde. He would wander the realms, keeping to himself primarily. Walking the fine line between good and evil, he was no different than any other, his want for power and greed began to get the better of him. His search to grow not only physically, but also mentally, overcame him.
With his wanting of power, he then needed to find a teacher that he could learn from. That teacher he desired he hoped would be Zhalith. After some searching, he ran across Zhalith. Looking back now, his timing could not have been better. As he arrived, Zhalith was just being confronted by the "Overgod". Zhalith glanced over towards Hyde just before jumping infront of the destructive force used by the "Overgod".
Being so close to the impact of the force and Zhalith, Hyde's essence was completely disassembled, and reassembled on Aurealis Beta. But this time, having been reassembled, he was not completely the same. All feelings of compassion and "goodness" had been strained from his being. He was now free to do as he wished without regret. The change was not only emotional, as his face turned from soft, to a leathery substance, dark in color and cold to the touch.
Without thought, he began to wander around the new Beta Aurealis. He thought that only his physical appearance and emotional state was altered, but he soon discovered that more had happened.
Wandering around, he soon discovered he could almost hear what people were thinking, what they desired. Their deepest wants. A poor adventurer had passed him, and asked if Hyde had anymoney. Not owning anything more than a strange, black cloak which covered his body, Hyde responded that he had none. As the adventurer walked away, Hyde "heared" a thought from the adventurer, followed by the words "I wish I had some money..."
As if from instinct, a red gleam shined through Hyde's eyes, and, as if by instinct, Hyde raised his right hand, clenched his fist, and money began to fall onto the ground. The adventurer quickly sprinted towards it to pick it up. As the adventured bent over to pick it up, money began to fall again, at a higher rate of speed. The coins began to become larger and heavier, until the adventurer became unconcious, and eventually was buried beneath the coins, sufficating to death. The moment the man died, a momentary flash of light sparked from the pile of coins, and ran directly into Hyde.
Travelling around the realms before, Hyde had heard stories of the djinn, but never actually believed them. Fables and stories to stop "would-be men of greed and vengenance", it was now all too clear that they did indeed exist, and by some chance, he now had become one. Confused and slightly scared, he decided to naturally seek out those who were like him. Hyde believed that they could answer his questions.
Days passed, in which he searched the lands to find another djinn. In this time, he became more comfortable with his powers, training himself in mind reading and manipulation. Eventually he came across another djinn, named Bazrick, who answered some questions that Hyde had. As he answered the questions, Bazrick began to fear that Hyde could become a threat to him. Underestimating the powers that Hyde had began to learn, Bazrick attacked Hyde, but made one crucial mistake, and Hyde was victorious. Collecting not only the sould of Bazrick, but also the souls which Bazrick had collected, Hyde's dream of power and greed had finally been realized.....
Since then, Hyde has spent his time collecting souls, growing in strength, and biding his time. Word spread quick about the rumored master Djinn who killed Bazrick. Those djinns who did not align themselves with Hyde quickly felt his wrath, while those who swore alledgance to Hyde surely felt the control that Hyde had....
Hyde himself infrequently travels anymore around the realms, insisting on using his follower djinns. Sometimes, however, when he decides on its importance that no one but he can be trusted to perform a certain task, or a certain sould appeals to him, he reveals himself. Few remain to tell the tale of the master djinn Hyde....
