The Globes of
Aurealis

The globes do have a story in an abstract sense which I haven't fully expanded on yet, but will. Lets just say for now that they supply the relativity of the known universe that is, the Realms as we know it. These globes are not intelligent, so to speak, but they do keep the knots of the threads of reality tight, so that chaos and anarchy do not exceed order and law, but a healthy balance instead is maintained.

Now one may ask, "Why do they pulse and glow? And what gives them their power?" An answer to this (with simplicity in mind) is: there are several minor globes scattered throughout the Realms, or known universe (which we will henceforth simply call the Realms), and each of these globes is tied to the Major Globe of Aurealis. The Major Globe of Aurealis supplies all of the 'power' and lifeforce to every living thing, spreading its influence throughout the Realms via the minor globes. It has never been witnessed by a mortal, as it's not truly of this dimension, but there are immortal witnesses to the Major Globe...

Lets also clarify what would happen if the Major Globe happened to leave our dimension completely, or be extinguished by a power so great that mere words fail to measure it appropriately when taken in a relative sense with the Realms. If that were to happen, chaos and anarchy would reign supreme. For a short while, mass confusion would dominate, until, ultimately, the threads of reality would simply untie and the Realms would be no more.

Now, you'll notice that one by one, a minor globe appears somewhere in the Realms, usually in a major population center, but sometimes in very remote wilderness locations or deep underground. Such appearances are good, for the more minor globes there are, the more the Major globe is bound to this dimension (in a dogmatic sense anyways).

In the beginning of the creation of the Realms, when there were only two immortals in existence (and no mortals), there were no minor globes. Hence, confusion and irrelativity were ever present. As time passes, however, more semblance will come to the Realms, we will a better grip on reality, and hopefully, eventually become a world that is virtually and completely stable.
