Justinian sat upon his throne of silver, smilingly brightly as he
watched the trial commenced beneath him. A young male who was newly
married and whose wife was ladden with child was brought up on charges of
violating the curfiew imposed upone the city.
He pleaded in his defense, "I was merely searching through the
garbage of the rich for items I might be able to sell to help with the
raising of my child."
A murmur came over the elite crowd that was allowed to attend
these matters. They looked around at each other and finnally to
Justinian as if cueing him to make his descion.
The tall majestic man stood and cleared his throat, "You say you
did what you did in the name hearth and home. While this is the noblest
of causes you must understand that Order is all there is. If we do not
follow order, chaos will consume us and evil will corrupt us. You my
child have violated the order I have given all of my people to protect
them. To wander at nighttime is forbidden cause night time is the time
of chaos. Your actions endanger many by inviting it upon us. For that
you must be punished."
There was the pause while the elitist nodding to each other in
support of thier kings wonderful speach. After Justinian had paused for
several long uncomfortable seconds he spoke again.
"You, and your family, are demoted to the station of slaves. You
and your wife will be sold at tommorows market. You obviously cannot be
trusted to look after yourselves so as of tommorow it will become
anothers task."
That evening before a silent city went to bed word was passed
that someone would be talking at the square after dark and he wanted all
the oppressed of the city to attend.
For reasons unbeknowst to the people the almost all seemed to
gather the courage to throw their inhibitions aside for evening and in
mass the went to the central square to hear the speaker. He stood upon
the granite statue in the central fountain ready to speak his peace. He
was seemingly unimpressive and could've easily blended into a crowd, save
his eyes. They were not even uncommon of color (a simple shade af brown
to be percise) but there was a wildness to them. The look of man that
lead a passionate and exciting life. All those close enough to see his
eyes clearly enough could not help but to feel some amount of envy.
The stranger rose his arms to speak, "You have lived to long
oppressed!" he shouted. "Living under the oppressive heel of Order. An
order that seeks to control, to own you. An order that wants to live
your life for and steal your passions from you. I come here to speak of
the one thing that will be your salvation. . . . chaos!"
The crowd silenced, stunned by his words but the stranger
continued, "You cringe at the word but your king has never taught you
what chaos really is. It's the driving force that gives people souls.
It is passion that lives inside of you that gives you the strength to
love and the courage to die. It is the force that drives you free will,
the caged animal that lives inside you desiring freedom. LET THE ANIMAL
OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET THE ANIMAL FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
With the word "free" still rolling from his lips, arrows from
every direction pierced his flesh as he slumped into the fountain. It
was to little to late however. The seed was sewn, the animal was free,
and there was nothing that Justinians armies could do to cage it once more.
The once orderly city gave way to pure chaos as the streets
became a field of battler. But slowly the oppressed gained the advantage
as young soldiers tired of living under oppresion as well began to change
sides and tip the balances in the favor of the common man. When all was
said and done survivors scattered to the four winds, and once the dust
had settled the remains of this once great city would go unfound to this
day. The story does not end here however.
Justinian and his two best trained body guards made their way out
of the city from the sewers beneath. They were fast approaching when
suddenly as if stepping out of an unseen door a man was standing before
them. Their jaws gaped as they realized that this was the same man that
had spoken earlier before being shot.
"Devilish trickery I'm sure," said Justinian scowling. "Let us
see how you fare against cold steel."
With a careless motion Justinians guard drew their swords and
charged. Justinian watched in dismay as the stranger reached out two
hands and grabbed each of his oncoming assailants by the face. A moment
later both men were charred piles of ash.
Justinian collapsed terrified as the stragers eyes began to glow
red. "Wh. . . Who are you," he managed to stammer.
"Chaos, Lord of Entropy," the stranger said smirking as he locked
gazes with Justinian. The rulers mind was thrown into a state of base
primal chaos. Every one of his orderly thoughts were torn to shreds and
the stability he relied so heavily upon was rended from him. His mind
was not strong enough to to handle the change so it simple turned itself
off to affraid to face things as they really were.
