The Origin of
Aurealis Beta

" After the somewhat disorienting and troubling events of late, and the demise of the world I will call Aurealis Prime, we have reappeared on what I will call Aurealis Beta for distinction purposes only, as it is in all aspects a true copy of Prime world. I have spent practically every waking hour since my "re-awakening" trying to discern the truth of what has happened to our worlds, and think I have finally discovered pieces of it, enough so that a cohesive story may be gleaned from it, but I digress.

Upon my re-awakening, I noticed that my awareness had been expanded, for a reason unknown to me, I was now in possession of certain knowledge that I had previously not been privy to. On Aurealis Prime, there _was_ an "overgod", if you will, but his influence seems to have passed away with the old world. Yes, passed away. Aurealis Prime is no more.

When I re-awoke, for it can only be re-awakening considering my memories of Prime, I sensed a subtle difference in the realms themselves. A feeling of... alteration, I suppose, was the only way to describe it. It seems that, when the Overgod arrived, with intent to destroy Prime, the only of us in attendance, still defying all, was Zhalith. An unlikely savior, to be sure, and I have no doubt that what was done happened because of selfish motives, but I get ahead of myself once again. So much to keep in ones head that it gets jumbled from time to time... ah, I have digressed yet again.

When the Overgod hurled his destructive force at the world, to destroy that which he had created, Zhalith threw himself into the path of the blast. As I said, it could be for no motive other than a selfish one, knowing the DracoLich as I did, but it was seemingly to no avail. He was destroyed, as was the Aurealis Prime. And yet... somehow, his essence, his immortal soul bound the remains of the world together, and caused a parallel world, the one on which we now stand, to come into being. So, as odd as it seems, the fact that we are still here seems to be thanks to... Zhalith. How strange.

The alteration that I sensed in the world was his essence, which is now a part of the world itself. Does this mean the world is now inherently evil? I am still uncertain of the answer to that. However, Zhalith was also a creature of law, and his lawfulness is the force that bound the remains of Prime together to form Beta.

"How do you know this?" I am anticipating this question, as it is surely one I would ask. Somehow... whether through blind fate, or through a choice by our "savior", I am now of equal power to the "overgod" of Aurealis old. What this means, I cannot fathom, but, to answer other unspoken questions, I have no plans to disappear, to become reclusive, nor to act in any other way as I ever have. My clan exists still, I will explore still, but not to the same length as before... I feel my... my duties, if you will, lie in another direction. Thus I have asked others to take over my duties as explorer for the realms. I shall still explore when I am able, but for now, he shall lead the expeditions to widen the known realms.

This is the tale as I have been able to determine thus far. I should like to ask Zhalith, but I fear his consciousness is no longer, only his essence.

Thus, I will seek the remaing answers elsewhere. But for now, I remain,
